Well, we've finally made some progress on this blog site! Slow and steady.... It's not quite done yet (will it ever be?!) but we think it's shaping up rather nicely.

So, what's new: we're actually going to use our Facebook page!! Visit it here and feel free to say hi or become a fan or both!

We'd love for you to check out our "other blog". It's a mix of personal, fine art, stock and just random photography - sort of a creative release for Patrick. Leave a comment and it'll keep him motivated to stay current on the ever-ongoing Friday Zen project.

Have a great day!! - Patrick & Laura

JOY TO THE WORLD | connecticut newborn photography

What a great time of year to be born into the world.  Sure, it’s a little cooler outside and the days are getting shorter.  But inside, things are warming up!  Fires are crackling, feasts are cooking, and the holiday music is starting to arrive on the scene.  And when the sun goes down, the lights come on.  Those great lights!  On trees and houses and don’t forget all those cool, tacky, classic, retro, contemporary and crazy lawn ornaments.  Even if she’s to young to know, I’m sure Kathryn can feel the festivity and excitement in the air (and I bet her brother Jack knows all about it!!).

So, welcome Kathryn!!  Enjoy this first Holiday Season with your lovely family and I wish you all many more to come!

CHANCE OF SUNSHINE | fairfield county portrait photography

Meet Hope!  At the start of her session, I think we all had our fingers crossed that the finicky New England fall weather would behave itself.  It was looking pretty ominous at the outset but ten minutes in and the skies cleared up, the sun came out and the temperature warmed right up.  Oh wait, that’s not what happened.  Instead it just rained.

But Hope was undaunted and didn’t let a little adversity dampen our spirits.  We just moved around a bit, waited it out and kept on going.  The cool part about our little delay was learning more about Hope and her focus on marine studies.  I wish I had my act that together when I was her age.  Actually, I wish I had my act that together right now!

Hope, I had a great time working with you and your lovely  mother and I look forward to showing you more images soon!

FAMILY MATTERS! | fairfield county family portrait photographer

Dr. Cass is one of the nicest, most genuine people you could hope to meet.  Not only that, but for the past two years, he has sent me a steady stream of great looking subjects with fantastic smiles.  While the former may have to do with something in the water here in Connecticut, the latter is all Dr. Cass.  He is the secret weapon behind First Impressions Orthodontics for Children and Adults - a place that I would describe as the Apple Store where you go to get a great smile.  It’s cool, hi-tech and honestly, sometimes I want to live there.

Well, it was great to finally meet the whole family.  We had a perfect fall afternoon and thankfully our October nor’easter left just enough color to squeeze out a few foliage shots.  Dr. Cass and Amy, I had a wonderful time with your lovely family and I hope you all enjoyed the session as much as I did!  Looking forward to seeing you soon and sharing the rest of the images.  Happy Thanksgiving!!

EARLY LATE SEASON SESSION! | fairfield county portrait photographer

I knew I was going to like Zoe (and who doesn’t love the name Zoe?!) because she was brave enough to schedule an early morning session.  While I would normally claim some sort of affinity with all those early morning types out there, being the parent of an almost two year old has made me more of a sleep scavenger who is just as likely to be asleep at two o’clock in the afternoon as I am to be awake at four thirty am.  In any case, this particular morning was kind enough to keep the wet weather at bay and cast some lovely soft light and a hint of fall foliage our way.  And Zoe – and her lovely mother – were wonderful to work with.  I had a great time with the both of them – Zoe is currently taking a photography class and after our session was done, she did a little shooting at the very scenic Boothe Park (I hope you got your assignment done!).  Looking forward to showing you more images soon!

BABY CHLOE! | fairfield county children’s photography

Meet Baby Chloe!  This was a particularly important session for me because Chloe’s lovely mother is “Miss Mary”, one of the owners of the Briarfield Day School.  And the Briarfield Day School is one of Emily Blu’s all-time favorite places.

Laura and I first met Mary and Danielle a little less than a year ago when we were looking for a daycare program for the Bean.  It was a big step for us, as rookie parents, to entrust the care of our only child with people we didn’t really know all that well.  But right from the beginning, we felt like we had made a great choice.

To us it felt like Mary, Danielle and the entire staff at Briarfield went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and Emily was taken care of.  They all greeted her by name and with big smiles.  They took the time to answer all of our questions and to keep us up to date on Emily’s progress.  In no time at all, Emily was assimilated into the Briarfield family and now she looks forward to her days with teachers and friends.  She even recognizes Miss Melissa’s car and Miss Jamie’s “big blue truck!!” when we pull in for morning drop off.   In short, they are a fantastic group of extremely talented, hardworking care-givers and Laura and I feel very fortunate that Emily is in such good hands.

So, I wanted to make sure we captured some great images for Mary and Ben.  And Chloe did not disappoint!!  We had perfect afternoon light and a touch of fall foliage.  Baby Chloe just took it all in stride and mom and dad did a top notch job of keeping her happy and engaged.  It was a great way to end a very busy weekend.  Mary and Ben: Laura and I are looking forward to your Image Review soon!
